New Moon with Jon Porras

Inspired by late 19th century spirit photography, Porras works to obscure moving images by projecting film through layers of fog, on sheets of fabric, and off mirrors. Exploring classic ideas of illusion and mystery, Porras approaches the occult from a philosophical and perceptual perspective that investigates a general human awareness of a realm beyond the physical. His multi-media installation will be active for one night only and will feature a live performance at 9PM.
Jon Porras has been performing and producing music and art in the Bay Area since 2005. In addition to releasing solo material on labels Root Strata and Thrill Jockey, he focuses on recording and touring internationally as 1/2 of the psych outfit, Barn Owl. His layered, multidimensional methods evoke the opaque serenity of the foggy SF landscape and work to depolarize forces of light and dark.
